The Canada Games Council (CGC) is delighted to welcome Adam Ward as the organization’s new Vice-President of Partnerships and Marketing.
“We are genuinely thrilled to welcome Adam to the Canada Games Council,” said Kelly-Ann Paul, CGC President and CEO. “His passion for sport is palpable and his entrepreneurial spirit and sponsorship expertise will help propel the Canada Games Movement forward as we strive to reimagine our funding portfolio and reach greater audiences from coast to coast to coast.”
Backed by the organization’s new Strategic Plan, Ward joins the Council’s senior leadership team with a mandate to build and enhance values-based corporate partnerships and diversify revenue streams, while working alongside key stakeholders to elevate the Canada Games brand.
The Canada Games spark greatness in the next generation of leaders on and off the field of play, and Ward is a shining example of that.
“My journey with the Canada Games started at 14 years old, when I volunteered at the indoor volleyball venue at the London 2001 Canada Summer Games,” said Ward. “That life-changing experience inspired me to dedicate thousands of hours to playing, training, volunteering, coaching and ultimately to working in sport. I’m so excited to see that journey come full circle in my new role with the CGC, and I cannot wait to pay it forward for the next generation of athletes and leaders across Canada.”
A native of southwestern Ontario, Ward combines leadership and eternal positivity with an extensive background in sponsorship and marketing. He joins the CGC after five years with CIMORONI, a Toronto-based marketing and partnership development agency where he most recently served as Vice-President. He is also a part-time marketing professor at Sheridan College.
In addition to the Canada Games, Ward has also served in volunteer roles with the Canadian Olympic Committee, and most recently as a committee member with the Sponsorship Marketing Council of Canada.
He holds a Masters of Human Kinetics with a concentration in Sport Management from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Physical Education and Health from the University of Toronto.
