The Canada Games Council (CGC) is proud to announce that Jody Becker and Sarah-Ève Pelletier were elected to the Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting in September.

The Nominations Committee brought Becker and Pelletier forward, out of nearly 40 submissions, to address specific gaps and the current CGC key strategic priorities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jody and Sarah-Ève to the CGC Board,” Chair Evan Johnston said. “Jody’s proven track record of operational excellence and connections within corporate Canada are exciting additions to our team’s competencies. Sarah-Ève is a Canada Games alum with working experience within sport at the national and international levels, and she brings a valuable perspective on all aspects of the sport system.”

Becker joins the CGC Board as an innovative leader and seasoned business professional with 25 years of experience in corporate strategy, operations, governance and risk management. As Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Infrastructure Services & Technology at EllisDon, Jody is the first woman to hold the COO rank at the company, and was named among WXN Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in 2022.

A former national team athlete in artistic swimming, Pelletier first represented Team Quebec at the 2003 Canada Games. A practicing lawyer and governance professional with first hand experience within the national sport system, she previously served as Canada’s first Sport Integrity Commissioner. Pelletier also worked for 12 years in the Olympic movement, first for the International Olympic Committee as a Media Rights Counsel, and then with the Canadian Olympic Committee as a Director of Sport Business & Sustainability. She continues to be passionate about the Canada Games and the role it plays in the life of athletes and of our communities.

The Annual General Meeting also facilitated the re-election of Malcolm Boyle, Judy Joseph-Black, Catriona Le May Doan, and Rick Ramsbottom to the Board.

Meanwhile, Lynn Blouin and Fauna Kingdon completed their terms on the Board and did not seek re-election. Blouin, a leader at the Host Society for the Sherbrooke 2013 Canada Games, served two consecutive terms from 2016-2024. Kingdon joined the CGC Board during the pandemic, serving as the Treasurer from 2020-2024.

“Lynn and Fauna are tireless champions of the Canada Games Movement and we thank them wholeheartedly for their countless contributions as members of our Board,” Johnston said. “We know they will continue to embody the values of the CGC and live its mission to strengthen the fabric of Canada through the power of sport.”

The CGC Board of Directors is composed of no more than 14 members and no fewer than 10 members, who serve offset four-year terms. The next call for nominations is scheduled for the spring of 2026.
